 The ceramic brocades, were done at The Henry Mercer Tileworks Museum, circa 1993.
They were inspired by a prehistoric artist.

Venus X series by B. F. Postel
 After being sculpted in plastercene, I then rescupted the plaster cast. The clay was from the original subterranean cave under the Tileworks and was crude. Each brocade had a different custom mix, that I made from the few antique glazes that were available, some only had colored slip, others were underglazed. All were fired differently, different temperatures, including Raku .
The ancient effect was intentional as was some of the crackling. The individual brocades vary, approx. 1" deep, x 3.5" long, x 2" wide.
